Big Ass Canvas: Collaborative Art Project
If you happened to be on or around the University of Texas-Austin campus last Thursday you might have seen a crowd of people gathered around some guys with ridiculous sunglasses and a huge art canvas… a big ass canvas!
The guys you saw are Zach Horvath and Travis Huse and the huge artwork is the first installation of Big Ass Canvas.
What is Big Ass Canvas?
Besides being the newest member of the exclusive Cool Things Started in Austin club, Big Ass Canvas is a collaborative creative experiment that encourages people to take a break from their busy days to come out and be inspired while creating a collective art piece alongside fellow Austinites. Evidenced by the fantastic final product (below), Zach and Travis’ positive energy is contagious and Big Ass Canvas no doubt added a little creativity and inspiration to everyone’s day.
Big Ass Canvas has plans to hold three more ‘Big Ass events’ around Austin (locations TBA) for the community to get involved in, culminating in a fundraiser auctioning off the artworks and raising money for Explore Austin, a local non-profit that offers leadership, mentoring, and adventure programs for underserved youth. Don’t miss leaving your mark at the next Big Ass Canvas Event!
