Incredible Flying Sphere

Origin of Cool: Japan

Japan’s Defense Ministry have invented a spherical flying machine that they demonstrated at a recent technology expo in Tokyo. The hovering ball is built with off-the-shelf parts and costs only $1,400 to produce. It can fly at speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour.

The Japanese Defense Ministry envisions the drone going into service as a search and rescue tool and an intelligence and reconnaissance drone. Imagine being on the battlefield in a war zone and this thing flies over your head!!
