These are the beautiful outcomes from the Gravity Stool Project by Dutch artist Jólan van der Wiel. By using magnetic fields and the power of gravity these stools come into their own. The idea came from the realization that gravity has an effect on everything, but what would happen if you could manipulate its effects. The plastic material that makes up these stools are effected by the magnets, so by opposing the magnetic field and gravity it is possible to create these stools. Watch the video below. It is hauntingly beautiful.

Who thought such a simple idea could be so beautiful. This artwork or typography was created by cutting out rubber magnets and attaching it to a sheet of paper. The iron fillings are then sprinkled over it and the lyrics from the Bonnie “Prince” Billy song Even if Love appears. Just imagine what type of artwork could be made from this technique.
